Prairie Stories

History is not the past.
It is a story about the past, told in the present and meant to be useful in constructing a future.

Here are many of the ones presented in this exhibit.

Blacksmithing on the Prairie
Performing archaeology above ground, we have recreated the Chesebro Blacksmith Shop for you within the walls of the museum. Come see the sights and hear the sounds of a blacksmith shop as it would have appeared in 1918.

The Discovery Room
Newly renovated! Use a blacksmith's tool to drill through a bar of iron, visit the wigwam, find out what "horsepower" does. Camp in a Civil War tent, try your hand at the telegraph keys! Get involved with history!

Calling All Collectors!
